The second part of my road trip series takes place in Slovenia: here we visited beautiful rivers like the wonderful Soca for a whole week.
This river rises from the "Jülich Alps" and meanders 136km through Slovenia ("Soca") and Italy ("Isonzo"). On the Slovenian side we visited beautiful river sections, gorges, cascades and waterfalls of this green and turquoise colored river.
Apart from the impressive color, the clarity was also remarkable. At the few deep places you could see fish swimming in several meters depth like in an aquarium - great to see!
But the clarity and color is not a matter of course: when it rained heavily the last day before departure, the conditions changed overnight: the river was only cloudy and rather yellow - so we were all the more happy that we had seen the turquoise water colors in the days before.
There are lots of hiking trails: some of them lead directly along the main river, but also the trails that lead to the small creeks are no less spectacular. Besides it was nowhere overcrowded, so that one could really enjoy the peace of nature.
I also enriched the series with some pictures of Slovenian gorges.
Now I wish you a lot of fun with the turquoise of the Soca 😉
